IWD‘24 lunch with British Ambassador Lisa Bandari

To mark International Women’s Day 2024, The Diplomat’s Cabinet was honoured to join a lunch hosted by Ambassador Lisa Bandari at the British Embassy in Lisbon. The intimate roundtable brought together voices from civil society, diplomacy, journalism, and advocacy to reflect on gender, leadership, and the evolving global conversation around equality in foreign policy.

The event featured best practices from The Diplomat’s Cabinet and celebrated initiatives like the British Foreign Office’s #AmbassadorForADay competition, which elevate the role of women and girls in shaping public life.

This meeting reflected the UK Foreign Office’s ongoing commitment to inclusive diplomacy, and its efforts to build bridges with local communities and stakeholders in Portugal — especially those working on equality and public participation.

The Diplomat’s Cabinet thanks Ambassador Bandari and the team at @ukinportugal for the invitation and the thoughtful exchange. These moments — where policy meets lived experience — are where real progress takes root.
